Jay-Z, Linkin Park and
Others Unite for Tsunami Benefit

LINKIN PARK WITH JAY-Z NO DOUBT, BLINK 182, OZZY OSBOURNE WITH CAMP FREDDY, AND MANY MORE TO PERFORM TOGETHER FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY

Hollywood, CA. February 8, 2005 – The Music For Relief organization has announced plans for a benefit concert to be held at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, CA on Friday, February 18th. Scheduled to appear (in no particular order) are No Doubt, Linkin Park with Jay-Z, Blink 182, Ozzy Osbourne with the all-star band Camp Freddy, Jurassic 5, Story Of The Year, The Crystal Method and more. All proceeds from the star-studded evening of music and education will go to the ongoing rebuilding effort in South Asia and surrounding countries. The Music For Relief organization hopes to raise over one million dollars from the event.

"A disaster of this magnitude that affects so many people forces you to ask yourself, ‘What can I do to help?’ We were compelled by that question to come together for this show and do what we do best to make the most impact in both dollars and awareness," Tony Kanal from No Doubt commented, "We are looking forward to giving the fans a great show, and in return help raise needed funds that will head to South Asia to rebuild the broken communities of our brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe."

Brad Delson from Linkin Park added, "Music For Relief has played a vital role in helping to get aid to the people who most need it. We are deeply honored to participate in what will likely be our biggest and most powerful event to date."

In addition to the live musical performances, fans can expect a big celebrity turn out with special guests set to appear throughout the night. Special video presentations along with educational booths from various charitable organizations will also be spread throughout the venue in order to educate the crowd.

Tickets, ranging in costs from $85 to $125 (plus applicable service charges) will go on sale Friday, February 11th through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is joining the efforts of Music For Relief by donating all profits from service charges to the charity from the event.

Concerned musicians formed Music For Relief to provide emergency relief for quake and tsunami victims in South Asia. Artists and industry professionals are donating their time and efforts to this event in hopes of raising the most money and awareness possible. UNICEF and Habitat For Humanity International have recently become partners in the Music For Relief effort and will equally split the evenings proceeds. Music for Relief has contributed over $1.5 million dollars to the American Red Cross International Response Fund for it efforts since its inception. Donations to Music For Relief can be made and more information can be found at www.musicforrelief.org.

To ensure that funds donated through Music For Relief continue to be spent on the rebuilding of South Asia, the organization is now partnering with UNICEF and Habitat for Humanity International. Both foundations are continuing relief efforts in the areas hardest hit by the tsunami. UNICEF, which has had a long-standing presence in South Asia, will assist in the recovery and rebuilding process by focusing on providing food and water, medical supplies, and education facilities to children. Habitat for Humanity International are helping families by constructing both short-term and long-term shelter for many of the five million people currently displaced from their homes.

Music For Relief: Rebuilding South Asia is a collaboration of efforts from The Firm, Rebel Waltz, Goldenvoice, Brent Bolthouse Productions, SRO Consultants, KROQ, Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Big City Productions, The MOB Agency, Pinnacle Entertainment and BNC.

THE Island Def Jam Music Group Appoints Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter to President & CEO,
Def Jam Recordings

New York, NY - The Island Def Jam Music Group, a division of Universal Music Group, the world's leading music company, today announced Grammy Award-winning superstar Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter to President & CEO of Def Jam Recordings. The announcement was made today by Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman of The Island Def Jam Music Group, to whom Jay-Z reports. In addition Jay-Z will continue to run Roc-A-Fella, which was recently purchased by IDJ. The appointment is effective January 3, 2005 and Jay-Z will be based at IDJ's New York headquarters.

"After ten years of successfully running Roc-A-Fella," said Mr. Reid, "Shawn has proven himself to be an astute businessman, in addition to the brilliant artistic talent that the world sees and hears. We are fortunate that he has agreed to take over as president & CEO of Def Jam Recordings. I can think of no one more relevant and credible in the hip-hop community to build upon Def Jam's fantastic legacy and move the company into its next groundbreaking era."

"I have inherited two of the most important brands in hip-hop, Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella, said Mr. Carter. LA Reid and the Universal Music Group have given me the opportunity to manage the companies I have contributed to my whole career. I feel this is a giant step for me and the entire artist community."

Since 1995, Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella artists have dominated the rap industry and set the trends for a generation. Not just with an extensive catalog and talented artists and producers, but with a profitable brand that spawned a clothing line (Rocawear), films (Fade to Black, Backstage, Streets Is Watching, State Property), a nightclub (40/40 Club) and a successful sneaker line (Reebok's S. Carter shoe collection). Moreover, Jay-Z has founded three philanthropic organizations, including The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund, Team Roc, and the annual Jay-Z Santa Claus Toy Drive. With a string of multi-platinum albums, SRO concerts and more than 30 million albums sold worldwide on his Roc-A-Fella label, there are no thresholds that Shawn Carter has not crossed. That is what made his Grammy-nominated, The Black Album such a phenomenon -- a groundbreaking autobiographical statement that was not only one of the most important records of 2003/2004, but perhaps the most important record of Jay-Z's legendary career.
